Medlibs Tweet Chat

This post by The Krafty Librarian talks about how things are changing for medical librarians and libraries in social media. It talked about a TweetChat that happened this week to discuss social media within libraries. I did not know much about Twitter until this class so it is interesting and educational to find something new that Twitter can be used for.

Twitter Tweet chats are online conversations that are arranged ahead of time to happen at a specific time and  day. A specific hashtag is used to identify the discussion. Using Twitter Chat people can get together and talk about different topics from education, law, hobbies and more. There usually is someone who moderates so the conversation does not get chaotic with everyone trying to “talk” at once. There are also transcripts of the chats so people can read later. The article also has many links that have useful information about Twitter Chat tools. According to the Krafty Librarian, Twitter gives quicker responses than using the listserv MEDLIB-L.
