SCORM anyone?

As I have blogged before, the LIS profession loves a good acronym.  Another added to be repertoire….SCORM!  Why not?  Now I know 1,000 and 1 acronyms.  I’m getting my money’s worth with this graduate degree in pure acronyms alone!

I digress….back to SCORM.  Basically SCORM allows for compatibility across multiple platforms for learning software.  But you ask what does SCORM stand for.  Wait no more…Sharable Content Object Reference Model.  Huh?  Exactly.

The lesson of SCORM as it relates to my library career is to keep in mind that uniformity and compatibility is always essential.  Patrons use different programs, operating systems and types of devices.  It is important to remember that patron access is of the utmost important because if it is not compatible, the user will leave.  Thanks SCORM!
